Neymar decision booed by Al Hilal fans as superstar makes debut

Neymar has finally made his Al Hilal debut, but some of the club’s fans were left disappointed by one moment in the game.

The Brazilian joined the Saudi Pro League club last month, signing for £78million from Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year contract.

The 31-year-old finally made his first appearance for his new club on Friday, his first club game since he suffered a long-term ankle injury against Lille in February.

After coming off the bench in the second half, Neymar was all smiles as he helped his side to a 6-1 victory over Al Riyadh.

But the same couldn’t be said for a section of his own fans, who were heard booing one of the decisions in the closing stages of the game.

Al Hilal won a penalty, handing Neymar a golden opportunity to open his account for his new club.

However, Al Hilal fans were gutted to see Salem Aldawsari step up instead, leading them to boo and express their desire for Neymar to take it.

Aldawsari didn’t let the fans’ reaction distract him though, as he scored from the spot, with Neymar joining in with the celebrations too.

Former Fulham star Aleksandar Mitrovic had also got himself on the score sheet through a penalty in the first half, whilst fellow ex-Premier League stars Ruben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly also started.

Jorge Jesus’s side now sit top of the league, as they made it five wins in six from their opening games.

Al Ittihad, who boast Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Fabinho are on their tails in second, whilst Al Ettifaq – managed by Steven Gerrard – are in fifth.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr are currently seventh in the league.
