Greenwood was linked with a move to Lazio in Serie A but they were unable to reach an agreement with United over a move.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito said that chiefs at the Premier League giants delayed the processing of the required documents.
The forward arrived in Spain for the 2023/24 campaign but missed their 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid on Saturday.
In an image from the club’s account on X, Greenwood has been seen holding a Getafe shirt for the first time.

They also revealed that he will take the no.12 shirt, having worn the no.11 at United.
Erik ten Hag’s side are understood to be set to pay a significant amount of his wages during his spell at the Spanish club.
Greenwood has not played competitive football since January 2022 after he was arrested on suspicion of rape, assault and making threats to kill.
He denied all of the charges, which were subsequently dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February.
United then carried out their own internal investigation and announced in August that he has no future at Old Trafford.
Greenwood will have just one year left on his contract at United when he returns from his loan spell at Getafe.
The club currently sit 14th in La Liga after four games having won just once thus far.
