Mohamed Salah wants to STAY at Liverpool amid Saudi Arabia interest, says Dominik Szoboszlai

Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai has confirmed that Mohamed Salah wants to stay at the club.

With the Saudi Arabian transfer window remains open until Thursday, talkSPORT understands Al Ittihad are willing to go higher for the star.

If Salah was to make the move he could be set to earn as much as Cristiano Ronaldo does at Al Nassr, however, it appears as though Salah has made his mind up about his future.

Speaking after their 3-0 win over Aston Villa, Szoboszlai said: “We are really happy that he stayed.

“We were, of course, speaking between each other but he wants to stay, he wants to be here, he wants to be with us.

“He stayed and we are really happy, a great player, a great person… we need some guys in the team like him, so we are happy.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: “I didn’t realise a little bit of a distraction in the whole week, besides answering questions about it – not from people inside (the club) but people outside.

“I have no clue, nobody came to me and told me something could happen or whatever. I’m pretty sure I would have got a call but I didn’t.

“And Mo didn’t look for a second like he thought about anything else other than about Aston Villa, being involved in all the goals.

“He has unbelievable numbers but it’s not a surprise that he has the numbers. And he had chances on top of that and (is) involved in creating and setting up and all these kind of things.

“He’s a world-class player, no doubt about that and I’m really pleased he is in my team.”

Salah scored his second goal of the season for Liverpool in the victory on Sunday, an easy finish from close range to make it 3-0.

His tap-in was preceded by Szoboszlai’s fine strike after just three minutes and an own goal from Matty Cash.

The Egyptian’s overall tally for the club now sits at 188 in 309 appearances across all competitions.

Having proven to be such influential part of Liverpool’s success since his arrival in 2017, fans will be delighted to see him stay at the club.

He committed his future to the Reds last summer when he signed a new three-year deal.
