Who is Austin Abrams?

American actor Austin Abrams was born in Sarasota, Florida USA, on 2 September 1996, so his zodiac sign’s Virgo. He’s had roles in over 30 movies and TV series, and is perhaps best known for his playing of one of the main characters Ben, in the 2015 adventure comedy movie “Paper Towns”, directed by Jake Schreier, and which also starred Cara Delevingne and Nat Wolff. It follows Quentin whose crush Margo’s disappeared, so he and his friends are now trying to find her; the film won four of its seven award nominations.

Education and early life

Austin and his sister Ashley Abrams were raised in Sarasota by their father Bradley Abrams and mother Lori, both of whom are Jewish and are doctors.

His parents signed him up for acting lessons when he was five, and he appeared in his first theatre play when he was nine. Austin made his debut film appearance aged 14, when cast to play James in the 2011 action science fiction mystery “Ticking Clock”, directed by Ernie Barbarash, and which starred Cuba Gooding Jr, Neal McDonough and Nicki Aycox. It follows a reporter who’s found a diary of a serial killer, and has chosen to investigate the matter all by himself, since when Austin has been quite active in the film industry. He attended a local high school in Los Angeles, California, and upon matriculating in 2015 chose not to pursue a college degree.

Roles in movies

In 2012, Austin played Young Adam Lipschitz in the romantic comedy “Jewtopia”, and the following year saw him portray Pete in the crime action “Gangster Squad”, directed by Ruben Fleischer, and which starred Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Set in 1949, the film follows John O’Mara and his team of police officers as they’re trying to restore peace in Los Angeles – it was nominated for five awards. Also in 2013, Austin played Aaron in the adventure comedy “The Kings of Summer”, which won five of its 15 award nominations.

Austin could then have been seen appearing in the 2015 thriller “Sacrifice” followed by the adventure comedy “Paper Towns”, and the 2016 short drama “The Modern Age”. In 2017, he played the lead character Troy Sloan in the musical comedy “Brad’s Status”, which Mike White wrote and directed, and which also starred Jenna Fischer and Ben Stiller. It follows a father as he’s touring colleges with his son, and the film won one of its three award nominations.

Austin’s also known for his playing of Gabe in the drama “Puzzle”, directed by Marc Turtletaub, and which starred Kelly Macdonald, Irrfan Khan and David Denman. It follows Agnes who’s become addicted to solving jigsaw puzzles – the movie won two of its four award nominations.

Austin’s three most recent film roles have been in the 2020 drama “Youngest”, and in 2022 the drama “Mosquito” and the comedy “Do Revenge”.

Roles in TV series

Austin’s debut TV series appearance was playing Todd Cooper in four episodes of the 2012 comedy “The Inbetweeners”, which Brad Copeland created, and which starred Joey Pollari, Zack Pearlman and Bubba Lewis. It follows the lives of four teenage friends, and the series won a Guild of Music Supervisors Award for Best Music Supervision for Reality Television.

In 2014, Austin appeared in an episode of both the comedy “Shameless” and the romantic comedy “Silicon Valley”. In 2015 and 2016, he portrayed Ron Anderson in the hit horror thriller “The Walking Dead”, which Frank Darabont created, and which stars Melissa McBride, Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln. It follows Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes in the world overrun by zombies, the series has been airing since 2010 and has won 85 of its 320 award nominations.

Austin’s since appeared in only a couple of TV series, with his three most recent roles having been in four episodes of the drama “Euphoria” since 2019, eight episodes of the 2020 romantic comedy “Dash & Lily”, and seven episodes of the romantic comedy “This Is Us” from 2019 through 2021.

Other credits

Austin sang the song “Pokemon (Theme)” in the 2015 adventure comedy movie “Paper Towns”.

Some of his recent appearances in talk-shows have been in “Talking Dead”, “IMDb on the Scene – Interviews”, and “Made in Hollywood”.

Love life and girlfriend

Austin’s amongst the most secretive of actors when it comes to speaking about his love life in public, and hasn’t revealed the names of the girls whom he’s been with.

Lili Reinhart played his girlfriend in the 2020 romantic movie “Chemical Hearts”, while Midori Francis portrayed his love interest in the 2020 romantic series “Dash & Lily”. Some of Austin’s fans believe that he and Lily were romantically linked in real life, as they were apparently spotted spending time together in Los Angeles, but neither has addressed these rumors.

Austin seems to be unattached as of December 2022, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Austin has posted only eight pictures and videos onto his Instagram account, and there are today more than 5,000 people following him; some of his fans have stated that Austin enjoys responding to their messages.

He’s become passionate about travelling and has already been to more than 20 US states. Austin’s also vacationed in a couple of European countries, and his favorite city to travel to is Miami, Florida, especially during summer.

He’s a lover of animals, with his favorites being dolphins.

Austin’s a huge fan of rock ‘n’ roll music – his favorite band is ZZ Top.

He likes to read books in his free time, and his favorite is “Dear John” by Nicholas Sparks; Austin’s also a fan of the eponymous movie based on the book, which starred Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum.

His favorite actors are Morgan Freeman and Leonardo DiCaprio, while some of his favorite movies include “Last Vegas”, “Along Came a Spider” and “Going in Style”.

Austin’s age is 26. His eyes are blue and he has brown hair, he’s 5ft 8ins (1.74m) tall and weighs around 160lbs (72kgs).

Austin’s net worth’s been estimated at over $1 million, as of December 2022.
